The Board
Dave Anderson, MD
Dr. Anderson graduated from Wayne State University Medical
School and completed his medical internship at the University of Southern
California. He completed his military service with the US Army
in both Bangkok, Thailand and Rangoon, Burma, then returned to complete
an internship in Internal Medicine at the University of Michigan. Dr.
Anderson settled in Healdsburg and served 3 terms as Chief of Staff
at Healdsburg General Hospital in 1976, 2001 and 2002. Dr. Anderson
is well recognized throughout the community and active with the local
Chamber of Commerce and the Healdsburg Rotary. Currently, he co-chairs
the Healthcare Foundation’s Capital Campaign for Healdsburg
District Hospital.
Diane Anderson
Diane serves as the Chief Financial Officer of Quaker Hill Development Corporation, a real estate investment firm representing landowners and investors in obtaining entitlements for development and eventual sale or lease of the property. In addition, the firm also provides business management and financial oversight for a number of entities. Prior to joining Quaker Hill, she served as Vice-President for Don Dowd Co from 1979 – 1992. In 1991, Diane and her husband Rick, established RLA Sheet Metal; a Healdsburg based heating, air conditioning and sheet metal shop. She is the proud mother of Danika (24) and Kenny (14) and has served as their coach and manager in all kinds of sports but is most proud of her final role as a Healdsburg Little League Manager. Although, born and raised in Southern California, Diane has called Northern California home for over 30 years, 20 of which have been at the top of Fitch Mountain.
Karen Bosworth
Mrs. Bosworth was raised and attended schools in Healdsburg. She
graduated from University of the Pacific in 1962 and moved to San
Francisco where she worked at Southern Pacific Hospital. On a blind
date she met Harry Bosworth from Geyserville. After their marriage
she returned to the North bay and has lived in Geyserville ever since.
She operated a Clinical Lab in Healdsburg for Dr’s. Grace, Neal
and Wellock for 26 years and then worked 8 years for Healdsburg General
Hospital as a Clinical Scientist. Karen’s community activities
include being President of the Geyserville Chamber of Commerce and
she currently serves as a member of that board. She is starting
her fourth term as a member of the Sonoma County Board of Education.
Harry and Karen own and operate Bosworth & Son general store in
Geyserville.
Peggy DeZurik (Treasurer)
Peggy currently is the Chief Financial Officer for Winzler & Kelly
Consulting Engineers, a Sonoma County based firm employing 300 people
in offices in California, Oregon and in the Pacific Rim where she
oversees and coordinates a full range of financial operations company-wide.
Prior to joining Winzler & Kelly, Peggy served as Vice President
of Administration for Selix Formal Wear from 1985 until 1992. She
is a member of BAFOG (Bay Area Financial Officers Group), Soroptimists,
and serves as Treasurer for the Healdsburg Club and serves on the
Board of Directors. She is a graduate of Leadership Santa Rosa Class
23 in 2006. Prior to relocating to Sonoma County served on the Board
of Directors for St. Mary’s Parish and St. Mary’s Elementary
School, with the primary responsibility of financial advisor.
William Hawn
After receiving a Pre-med BS and an MSPA/ Health Service Management from the University of Missouri Bill Hawn served 4 years in the United States Air Force assigned to Hospital Administration in Medical Services Corps at Travis Air Force Base and Ubon Air Force Base in Thailand. Bill brings a wealth of professional experience from a 30 year career in Hospital and Health Care Services Management. His expertise is in developing not-for-profit, community-based health care services and organizations. He is currently active in private consulting with such clients as Alameda County Health Services, Alta Bates Medical Center, and NorthBay HealthCare Corporation.
In his personal and community pursuits, Bill serves as the Leader of the Slow Food Sonoma County convivium; a Board member of the Pediatric Dental Initiative, on the Steering committee of the Prospero Society, American Conservatory Theater, and as a member of Healdsburg Rotary Club.
Willi Hilliard
Ms. Hilliard owns and operates Chalk Hill Ranch, a boarding
stable for 70 horses; she is also a grape grower. She has
actively raised funds for United Way and Canine Companions for
Independence and has served as a Volunteer for Vines & Wines
2003 and for the Healdsburg District Hospital Turnaround Campaign. Prior
to joining the Foundation Board, She served on the Board of the
Alexander Valley Association and Canine companions for Independence. In
2003 she Co-chaired the “Miniatures at the Manor” which
raised funds for the Plaza Arts Center.
Yvonne Kreck
Mrs. Kreck was raised and attended schools in Healdsburg
where she first met her husband, Bill. She attended and
earned a Master’s degree in psychology at California State
University, Chico and taught psychology at Santa Rosa JC before
turning her attentions full time to her family and the family
business, Mill Creek Vineyard and Winery. Yvonne has a
deep history of volunteer service. She served on local school
boards for 19 years and has been a very active member of the Alexander
Valley Association, the Healdsburg Chamber of Commerce and several
other community groups. Yvonne was part of the group that
presented the first Vines & Wines.
Kent Mitchell
Born and raised in San Francisco and educated in both public
and private schools, Kent went on to attend San Francisco State
University. His business background included extensive experience
in sales, marketing and management. A long-time associate with
Frank Howard Allen Realty, he was also Partner and Marketing Director
of Brasset Cellars Bluenose Wines. In addition, Kent has extensive
community service experience and served as Mayor and Councilmember
(12 years) of Healdsburg and is currently serving as Commission
of the Healdsburg Chamber of Commerce. Kent is a long time community
supporter, active with organizations including; 18 years on the
Board of Directors for the Healdsburg Boys & Girls Club (4
terms as President); many years on the Board of Directors for
the Healdsburg High Boosters Club (3 terms as President); founding
member and Board Officer of the Healdsburg Little League; former
Coach and Board Member of Healdsburg Pop Warner Football; Sonoma
County Ag Preservation and Open Space District Advisory Committee
(appointed by the Mayor); Healdsburg Museum and Historical Society
Board of Trustees; and, Chairman of “Celebrate Healdsburg
150” – the 150th anniversary of the founding of Healdsburg.
Mary Jane Mittlestadt
A retired Registered Nurse with a deep commitment to the
community. She began her career with Tillamook County General
Hospital and became a Staff Nurse at Healdsburg District Hospital. She
served as a Health Facilities Evaluator with the California Department
of Health Services, joined the Cloverdale Hospital Board of Directors,
Volunteers at the Cloverdale Senior Center, and is a Member Beta
Sigma Phi International Sorority.
Richard Mucci, M.D. (Vice-Chairman)
In 2006 Dr. Richard Mucci retired from thirty years surgical practice at Healdsburg’s Hospital, a position he also held at Santa Rosa Memorial and Palm Drive Hospitals. He received his MD at the Medical College of Wisconsin, in Milwaukee and served in the United States Public Health Service in San Francisco from 1972 to 1976. Rich’s career was in general, endoscopic, laparoscopic, vascular and general thoracic surgery. He was the Chief of Staff at Healdsburg General Hospital in 1982-1983 and again in 1990-1993 as well as Chief of Surgery from 1997-2002. Dr. Mucci was also a member of Healdsburg General Hospital’s Board of Directors from 1989 to 1995 and a Clinical Instructor at the University of California, San Francisco Department of Family Practice from 1978-2004. He now owns STUDIO4 ROM Technology Fitness Center in Windsor.
Dennis P. Murphy
Mr. Murphy’s roots are deep in the soil of Sonoma County having
been on the Sonoma County Farm Bureau Board for 10 years, Sonoma County
Young Farmer of the Year 1994 and Owner/Partner Murphy Ranch & Vineyards,
Murphy Goode Winery and Murphy Goode Vineyards since 1980. His
name may be familiar to many of us as Commissioner/Past Chair, Sonoma
County Planning Agency, Board Member/Community Advisory Board, North
Coast Bank, and Fireman for the Geyserville Volunteer Fire Department
for 10 years. He resides in Healdsburg with his wife Katie Wetzel
and their three children.
Sam Radelfinger (Secretary)
Sam Radelfirecently retired as a professor of health science
at San Jose State University after holding a position there for
thirty years including three terms as department chairman. While
at SJSU he initiated their MPH program in Community Health Education
which has become nationally recognized. His major teaching
areas were the MPH foundation course in individual, organizational,
and community behavior and behavior change and graduate courses
in training and in systems theory.
He has worked overseas in population control in East Pakistan for The
University of California and Ford Foundation and in Indonesia at the
School of Public Health in Jakarta for USAID. Has been on the
Board of Directors of The American Cancer Society in Sacramento, Planned
Parenthood in San Jose and Santa Cruz, and the Santa Cruz AIDS Project.
Sam was born and raised in San Francisco and has bachelor, masters,
and doctoral degrees from Stanford and an MPH from UC Berkeley.
Stephen Schwartz
Stephen’s career includes 30 years in practice as a Tax Attorney and the next 15 years operating a mail order business specializing in European office organization systems catering to the legal industry. Now he enjoys operating Mojon’s Bench, a family estate winery in the Alexander Valley. Currently, he is an officer and Board Member of the Larry L. Hillblom Foundation. The Hillblom Foundation focuses on making grants in the medical research field, primarily research being conducted on the UC campuses. Stephen also serves on the Board of Jewish Family and Children’s Services in San Francisco. JFCS is the largest social welfare agency in the west coast.
Charles Siebert
With his wife, Kristine Leroux, Charlie moved to Healdsburg in 1992 from Los Angeles. Since then his work as a television director has carried him to locales as varied as New Zealand, Vancouver, Florida, San Diego, and back to Los Angeles, directing such action favorites as "Xena, Warrior Princess" "Hercules, the Legendary Journeys" "The Pretender", "Vanishing Son", "Pacific Blue" and others. He began his acting career as a charter member of the ACT, San Francisco's premier regional theatre and appeared in many Broadway, Off-Broadway, and regional productions before his move west. He is a past President of The Russian River Chamber Music Society as well as Chairman of Vines & Wines for three years.
Mary Ellen Smith (Chairman)
Mrs. Smith was born and raised in Southern California and had a lengthy career in the fashion industry in Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco. Mary Ellen has a long history of volunteer service in child and family welfare, and served for nine years as a member of the Board of Directors of the Edgewood Center for Children and Families in San Francisco. In 1991 she and her husband, Dick, purchased a weekend home in Healdsburg and in 2000 made it their full time residence.
Ken Spadoni
Owner/broker of Spadoni Real Estate with 22 years experience
selling and listing properties in Sonoma County, having developed
a strong referral business including both improved and unimproved
properties with vineyards. Recognized expert who serves as an “expert
witness” in matters relating to standard of care, real property
values, and rental values. A community leader who is active
with the local Chamber of Commerce and numerous service organizations.
Dieter Thurow
Mr. Thurow received his B.Sc., in Finance & Accounting from U.C.L.A.
in 1966, and his M.B.A. from M.I.T. in 1977. His Master's thesis was
entitled "Strategic Planning in Diversified Corporations."
Dieter Thurow has been a Rotarian for about 20 years and
is a Past President of the Healdsburg Club. His involvement with local
healthcare issues started in 1998, when Columbia was going to close
our hospital. Mr. Thurow tried, together with a number of local physicians,
to design a strategic plan that would have put the hospital on a sustainable
financial footing. Prior to focusing on his private wealth management
and real estate consulting practice in 1985, he had extensive corporate
management experience in the U.S. and Europe. He and his wife, Ursula,
moved to Dry Creek valley in 1995. Ursula farms their 10-acre vineyard
and makes the award-winning Zin & Cabernet for their winery.
Philip Wright
A resident of Sonoma County for 47 years with a well-established
real estate business. Phil founded Wright Realty in 1984,
expanding to a second office and additional enterprise of Phil
Wright Development Company, Trowbridge & Wright Investment,
Inc., Wright Property Management and Windsor Valley Mortgage Company. In
2003, he bought a Prudential California Real Franchise. He
is also a founding member of Windsor Oaks National Bank and remains
closely connected to the community by serving on the Board of
Windsor Oaks National Bank, Windsor Valley Mortgage, Windsor Rotary,
Healdsburg Rotary, Healdsburg Chamber of Commerce and the Board
of Healdsburg General Hospital.
Kathleen Young
Serves as Controller for all of the Robert Young enterprises,
including Robert Young Vineyards, Robert Young Estate Winery,
Robert Young Ltd. Partnership, Oak Grove Vineyards, Young Family
Corporation. She is a critical member of the executive management
team overseeing all accounting functions including: payroll for
65 full time employees (plus 75 seasonal workers); all tax filings;
financial reporting and accounting systems. An active member
of her community, including the local Chamber of Commerce Treasurer
for the Alexander Valley Association, Project Leader for the Alexander
Valley 4-H Club and Past-president of the Alexander Valley Parents’ Club.
